Newforma establishes dedicated Construction Solutions Team

Manchester, N.H. – Newforma, a project information management (PIM) software company connecting architecture, engineering and construction firms worldwide, announced the formation of its Construction Solutions Team, including AEC technology industry veterans Dan Conery, Susan McDowell and Scott Kirshe. The team is focused on helping construction firms embrace PIM to streamline project execution, improve accountability, reduce risk and connect with architecture and engineering firms on projects in a more meaningful way than ever before.

“We have always attempted to implement the best technologies the industry has to offer to maximize project efficiency,” said John Moriarty & Associates’ Chief Engineer Barry Gehron. “Newforma’s PIM solution fits well within our strategy as it serves to streamline many of our day-to-day project delivery work processes. Newforma’s software immediately improved the efficiency of our contract administration process, eliminating the tedious paperwork required to manage such items as RFIs and submittals. As a general contractor, the ability to easily share large project files and to control document distribution with subcontractors, contractors and owners through Newforma Info Exchange relieves us of time-consuming administrative burdens and provides a clear audit trail.”

Construction technology industry veteran Dan Conery, Newforma’s newly promoted vice president of construction solutions and customer satisfaction, will lead a dedicated team responsible for advising construction firms on how to implement a proactive PIM strategy. Prior to his six years and counting with Newforma, Dan spent more than 10 years working for Primavera Software, Inc., a provider of project portfolio management solutions. As its product director for Expedition, he worked closely with many construction firms in all facets of contract management and project control.

Newforma also welcomes Susan McDowell to the team as director of construction solutions. Susan joins Newforma after more than 15 years with design-build firm The Haskell Company, most recently serving as its manager of construction technology applications. Throughout her career at Haskell, Susan has partnered with integrated architecture, engineering and construction teams to implement project delivery processes and industry specific software solutions. Her on-the-job experience includes business process analysis, user adoption strategies, technical training, best practice documentation and an in-depth knowledge of the design-build process and construction project delivery. Prior to Haskell, Susan was a project controls engineer for several years at Bechtel, a global leader in engineering, construction, and project management. She is also the current president of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Jacksonville chapter.

Construction Sales Manager Scott Kirshe joins Newforma with 19 years of experience in the construction software industry. For several years, Scott worked for construction accounting software provider Timberline, handling national sales for the company’s East Coast region, where he was responsible for direct sales and implementation activities, including assisting many early adopters in the company’s BIM initiative. Most recently, Scott had been working as the East Coast regional sales manager for MC2, a construction estimating software company, until he saw an opportunity to work with Newforma to help contractors gain the benefits of PIM and improve their communication and work processes with architects, subcontractors, vendors and engineers.

“This is an important initiative for Newforma as we leverage the interaction between our architectural and engineering design customers and the construction firms they rely on for project execution. Connecting the entire A, E and C project delivery team is an unmet need in our still fragmented industry,” explains Newforma Chief Executive Officer Ian Howell. “By assigning a dedicated team of professionals with a unique blend of deep experience in both design and construction, we can better serve the needs of design-build firms, general contractors, large specialty sub-contractors and construction managers who are increasingly becoming involved much earlier in the design phases of a project and who are being asked to embrace new work processes around model based design and digital workflows for project delivery.

“Newforma is committed to providing a comprehensive PIM solution for the entire project team that facilitates effective communication, provides transparent information sharing and drives accountability. Dan, Susan and Scott have extensive domain knowledge and a depth of experience to be able to advise construction firms on the many benefits of adopting a proactive PIM strategy in their firms,” said Howell.
