» CSI Indy to offer IPD seminar
INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Chapter of CSI has announced that it will present an educational seminar on Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), Jan. 20, 2011, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., at the Riverwalk Banquet Center in Indianapolis.
John Gromos, manager of business development for Turner Construction in Nashville, will be speaking extensively on the subject of IPD. He has 20 years of experience in the design, commissioning and construction industry, and is a LEED AP and a board member of the AIA Middle Tennessee chapter.
“IPD is gaining momentum and recognition in the design and construction industry, but the IPD process is far from mainstream,” he said.
Gromos’ presentation will review what IPD is and how it is different from traditional delivery methods, by using examples from completed projects as opposed to theory only. The presentation will address the background behind what's moving the industry towards this alternate delivery method by reviewing the core themes of IPD.
IPD is much different than partnering and the core concepts of collaboration, team decision-making and communication will be discussed. IPD is accomplished by utilizing technology, so the presentation will demonstrate how Building Information Modeling (BIM) adds value to the design, construction and operations phases of a project.
Additionally, the core theme of 'Lean' is reviewed with examples of how collaboration, technology and Lean are changing how projects might be delivered in the future.
Finally, the presentation will briefly review the Contractual Forms of Agreement available in the market, as well as the core contractual concepts that are the basis of IPD agreements.
This seminar will be worth 2 AIA LU's (.2 CSI learning units).
