Using the IPD approach will help to streamline project results, reduce waste, and maximize efficiency through all phases of design, fabrication, and construction of the project.

FAYETTEVILLE, ARK. — The design-bid-build delivery (D-B-B) method may still rule the design industry, but it is quickly losing favor. In the March 14 issue of The Zweig Letter (TZL), the weekly management publication from ZweigWhite, several design-industry leaders indicated that the traditional delivery method will be supplanted by approaches that favor collaboration and integration.

“As officials at MaineGeneral Medical Center and the parent organization MaineGeneral Health pursue financing for the $312 million regional inpatient facility, architects, engineers and builders are working together to ensure speedy delivery of the physical plant in a process known as integrated project delivery (IPD),” said Betty Adams, staff writer for the Morning Sentinel.
