New Autodesk Point Layout software expected to boost accuracy and productivity at construction sites Autodesk Inc.
SAN FRANCISCO — Following its acquisition of technology assets from Colorado-based Get The Point, LLC, Autodesk, Inc. introduced Autodesk Point Layout, new software for layout at construction sites. Autodesk Point Layout automatically creates points from BIM and CAD models within Autodesk Revit, Autodesk AutoCAD and Autodesk Navisworks software. The point data drives robotic total station hardware, such as Topcon’s line of positioning systems and related hand-held devices or tablets, to give contractors and sub-contractors laser-guided pinpoint accuracy for the placement and verification of building elements.

CG/LA Infrastructure releases list of North America’s Strategic Top 100 Infrastructure Projects CG/LA Infrastructure
WASHINGTON, D.C. — CG/LA Infrastructure released the 5th Annual Strategic Top 100 North America Infrastructure Project list. The total estimated value of these projects is $435.7 billion with a conservatively estimated potential to create 3.3 million direct jobs over the next two years, and add 1 percent to our national GDP each year from 2015 through 2020. Each of the selected projects offers a business opportunity in the next 3-12 months.

Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Task Force releases rebuilding strategy U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Obama’s Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Task Force, chaired by Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Shaun Donovan, released a rebuilding strategy to serve as a model for communities across the nation facing greater risks from extreme weather and to continue helping the Sandy-affected region rebuild. The Rebuilding Strategy contains 69 policy recommendations, many of which have already been adopted, that will help homeowners stay in and repair their homes, strengthen small businesses, and revitalize local economies and ensure entire communities are better able to withstand and recover from future storms.

Ten design teams selected for stage two of Rebuild by Design competition U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Task Force announced the selection of 10 Design Teams to proceed to stage two of Rebuild by Design, a multi-stage regional design competition that will develop innovative projects to protect and enhance Sandy-affected communities. U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Shaun Donovan, who also chairs the Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Task Force, launched the competition on June 20, 2013 in partnership with the Rockefeller Foundation.
