SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Reinforcing its technology leadership in the building design, construction and civil infrastructure industries, Autodesk, Inc. today unveiled Autodesk BIM 360, the next generation of Building Information Modeling (BIM). Autodesk BIM 360 includes a set of cloud services that will provide anytime, anywhere access to BIM project information throughout the project lifecycle. Autodesk BIM 360 will work with BIM solutions for design, construction and operations including the Autodesk Building Design Suite and Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite. BIM is an intelligent 3D model–based process that provides insight for creating and managing building and civil infrastructure projects faster, more economically, and with less environmental impact.

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Autodesk, Inc., a leader in 3D design, engineering and entertainment software, announced the acquisition of Vela Systems, a provider of cloud and mobile field management software for the construction industry. The addition of Vela Systems field management products to Autodesk’s growing portfolio of cloud and mobile products is helping to extend the value of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and project data to construction customers in the field. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

BUDAPEST – Build London Live is the latest event of the collaborative design challenge series for BIM practitioners from around the world. The 48-hour virtual design competition was held May 21-23, utilizing revolutionary cloud-based technology. AIDEA, a worldwide Top 100 architecture practice from the Philippines, has won the OpenBIM award at Build London Live 2012 using ArchiCAD for its winning design.

Using enterprise-wide project management software, the Utah Department of Transportation was able to complete the United States' largest bridge reconstruction project within budget, while reducing overall construction time from three years to two years.
