MANCHESTER, N.H. — Hoyle, Tanner & Associates Inc. has announced it has furthered its commitment to quality engineering and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) with the addition of Peter Griem, P.E., as the structural engineering manager of its Land Development and Building Structural Group.

What does IPD mean to us? From the Editor
The discussion around IPD reminds me of the debate over building information modeling (BIM) five or six years ago. Back then, few projects were designed completely leveraging BIM or harnessing all benefits. Rather, design teams — or individual team members — implemented BIM more modestly; choosing to use 3D, intelligent design processes for just the structural frame, or only for the cladding. While the whole project did not need to be participating to glean benefits from individual BIM efforts, a similar process is occurring with IPD.

Built environment leaders team up to educate importance of IPD  Forell/Elsesser Engineers Inc.
SAN FRANCISCO — The architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) team of Forell/Elsesser Engineers Inc., Cannon Design and McCarthy Building Co.’s Inc. have wrapped up the second annual collaborative Integrated Skill Development internship program based on the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) model. Students from California Polytechnic State University, University of California, Berkeley, and Oregon State University participated in this year’s internship.

DEERFIELD, IL — The new Integrated Project Delivery channel, www.IPDchannel.net, launched this month by Stagnito Media, aims to be a resource for IPD news, case studies, white papers, and industry interaction. A monthly online poll is included on the site to gage the experience and awareness of the AE profession. The September poll asks “Has your firm used IPD yet?”
